Glitter, Glitter Everywhere
With the Christmas season comes the use of glitter in the classroom for all those fun Christmas art projects. I can hear the janitors screaming now:)
I am not sure where I saw this idea but I have been using it for years now and the janitors at the schools I have worked love me for it. Hey maybe it gets me some extra cleaning in my room.
Anyways, start saving the lids to the boxes of paper your school gets and you will save yourself being covered in glitter for weeks after you do an art project using glitter.
All you have to do is have students apply glitter to their project in the box lid only. The shake their project off IN the box and ta da …. the glitter stays in the box and not all over the floor or counter! I use one box per glitter color (unless you want mixed colors). When we are done with the project the extra glitter can be returned to the glitter container saving you money!
Believe me…. if you haven’t tried this you will love it and you will be doing it for years to come.
Cheers and Merry Christmas,
I'm giving you the Liebster Award!

Terri, I use the box lids for glitter also. One other thing I do about a week before we use them is put some glue in the 4 corners – it keeps the glitter from 'leaking out". I think it is a GREAT idea!!

Pat: Glue in the corners would help for those lids that are not sealed all the way around. Great idea. I usually throw those ones in recycling and save the good lids with no holes in the corners. Now I will be able to save all the lids:) Thanks.
Thanks for the tip! I also make my students put their paper/canvas in paper box lids when they paint. Paper box lids are wonderful for creative activities!
