Whangdoodle….What’s a Whangdoodle?

I am going to be on holidays for 2 weeks.!!!!! Yay. It has been a long time. Before I leave I thought I would share with you all my students’ favourite read aloud book from this year.

It is called The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles by Julie Andrews. Yup the same Julie Andrews from The Sound of Music.

The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles 30th Anniversary Edition

Brian from The Wise Guys told me about the book when I was looking for one at the beginning of the year. I am so glad I took his advice and bought the book because my students LOVED it.

Who wouldn’t love a book about a fantasy place where there are creatures called Oinks, Side Winders, Splinter Cats, Gazooks, Tree Squeaks, and Swamp Gaboons. The story plot is about 3 siblings who meet a wacky professor who teaches them how to use their imagination to search for the last Whangdoodle.

Take your students on a trip to Whangdoodle Land to search for the last really, great Whangdoodle and see what all the fun is about ! Hint: there are magical machines that create any kind of ice cream sundae asked for and there is a gum tree made out of gum !

Cheers,

    1. It is definitely a book I will read to my class over and over again! I think it would make a fantastic movie also.
